Semiconductor Market Poised for Recovery in 2010: Analysts
    Feb 02, 2010
Sales of semiconductors worldwide fell in 2009, which was expected given the global recession, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association. However, the drop was not as bad as predicted, and the SIA says that increasing demand for PCs, cell phones and consumer electronics, as well as growth in China and India and a host of new devices such as netbooks and tablets, will continue to fuel a stronger 2010.       New PICMG 2.30 Standard Names 3M Ultra Hard Metric (UHM) Socket Connector as the high-speed J2 Connector
    Jan 26, 2010
The PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group (PICMG) recently ratified the new PICMG 2.30 CompactPCI Plus IO standard, specifying the fully shielded Ultra Hard Metric (UHM) Socket Connector from 3M as the high-speed J2 connector. The new PICMG 2.30 specification adds PCI Express, Ethernet, SATA, SAS and USB extensions to the CompactPCI family of specifications while preserving PCI bus connectivity and backward compatibility. The specification defines the use of previously reserved rear I/O pins for the 32-bit CompactPCI system slot with new high-speed serial signals to preserve interoperability with existing CompactPCI standards.

What Apple, Cisco And Google Share
    Dec 30, 2009
Why did some tech companies soar during the past decade, 2000 through 2009, while others floundered? The winners--Apple, Google and Salesforce.com, for instance--had the foresight to invent new, profitable sectors (digital media devices and services, Internet advertising, software-as-a-service). The less fortunate--AOL, Dell and Sun, for instance--got distracted or guessed wrong on major trends. [Forbes.com]
